Several horsemen in the 1930s formed the Pinto Horse Society with the purpose of breeding superior colored horses. The registry they created shifted to the PtHA, which was formed in 1956 by Kay Heikens, Helen Hammond and other Pinto supporters.

All horsemen and small-business owners are encouraged to attend. Later that day, a town hall meeting focusing on industry issues will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Convention attendees are invited to weigh in on hard-hitting issues in the equine industry.

Hood shows her 5-year old, tobiano gelding, Target To Ride, also known as Target. Together they compete in Pinto, Paint, and Open shows in Kansas.
