Exhibitors will compete for added money in various halter classes, thanks to the generosity of 10-year cumulative breeders Steve and Kathy Headley of Bloomington, Indiana, who donated $20,000; 30-year cumulative breeders Gary and Linda Gordon of Fossil Gate Farms, Roanoke, Texas, who donated $50,000; and 30-year cumulative breeder Terry Bradshaw, and his wife, Tammy, who donated $35,000.
Continue reading …This year, the Youth World Show offered over $140,000 in scholarship prizes to AjPHA members competing at the show. Included were scholarships for top finishers in 83 world championship performance and halter classes, along with scholarships for randomly selected entries and other special events. All this in addition to the customary prizes awarded at the show, such as trophy buckles and saddles. Scholarship money was provided by the American Paint Horse Foundation, as well as private donations from APHA members and industry supporters.

Continue reading …Sabine Lazo was moved to tears when she was announced as the recipient of the Robyn Hanna Sportsmanship Award on July 5 at the 2017 AjPHA Youth World Championship Show. An anonymous panel selected Sabine, who is from Caldwell, Texas, for the award based on her outstanding display of sportsmanship throughout the World Show. She received a $1,000 scholarship and a custom Gist Silversmiths trophy buckle.

Ford Youth World attendees have the opportunity to visit with colleges and universities at the college fair 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on August 7 and 8 in Section 300 in the Jim Norick Arena. Then at 7 a.m. on August 8, come get a free breakfast sandwich with AQHA Professional Horsemen in Section 300.

– Platinum Breeders’ Futurity Estimated Purse: $73,000
– Gold, Silver & Bronze Breeders’ Futurity – Halter Estimated Purse: $38,000
– Breeders’ Halter Futurity Bonus Payout: $20,000 (for high placing weanling foals competing in both APHA World Show Amateur weanling halter and the 2017 Breeders’ Halter Futurity, Des Moines, IA)
– Lynn Simons Memorial Halter Futurity Estimated Purse: $18,750 (taking place concurrently with Amateur Yearling halter classes)
– WCHA Breeder’s Championship Futurity & The Big Money Futurity: $160,000 in cash & prizes (taking place in conjunction with the APHA World Show)
