The 2019 AQHA Central Level 1 Championships are April 10-13 at State Fair Park in Oklahoma City; the 2019 AQHA West Level 1 Championships returns April 17-20 to the South Point Equestrian & Events Center in Las Vegas; and the 2019 Nutrena East AQHA Level 1 Championships are May 1-5 at the World Equestrian Center in Wilmington, Ohio.

Horse show competition at the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo has been one of the cornerstones of the event, particularly for American Quarter Horses. After all, the breed’s first registration number was issued to a stallion named Wimpy, owned by the King Ranch, after the sorrel took the win as the Grand Champion Stallion at the Show in 1944.

APHA sponsors awards for up to 15 classes per show; selected events are at the discretion of show management. Awards include a Gist championship buckle and second- through sixth–place medallions for each class, valued at $3,500. Shows may offer additional Paint Horse Championship classes and purchase the additional awards for these classes from APHA.
