Equestrians eager for progress updates on the facility will see it come to life in a sweeping view of the grand stadium surrounded by a five-story luxury hotel, elegant dining terrace, four massive indoor arenas, seventeen outdoor arenas and even a visit to the quaint on site Chapel.

Kelly has been a Paint professional for more than 30 years. She has held an APHA judge’s card for 20 years, and she also holds cards with AQHA, PHBA, WCHA and NSBA. Her participation in the horse industry is vast, ranging from judge, trainer, instructor, exhibitor and beyond. An APHA National Director, Kelly currently serves on the APHA Judges Committee. She also serves as a board member of the American Paint Horse Foundation.

What is your favorite class to compete in? Why? “By far, it would be Equitation. I love the challenge of remembering and perfecting a pattern. I also love the excitement when you get to the first cone,” Addison says.

Qualifying for the APHA World Show is easy: just attend two APHA-approved events (which can include the ones noted below) during the qualifying period, June 1, 2018–June 3, 2019. If an exhibitor doesn’t attend at least two events for qualification, they can pay a $1,000 fee per show (up to $2,000) as “pay to play” World Show qualification. Only participation in the events—never points earned—factors into qualification.

The inaugural APHA Western National Championship Show is scheduled for October 16–19 at the South Point Arena & Equestrian Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The show name shall remain the Oregon Summer Classic. The name is rooted in the deep history the show has as a top AQHA show and is owned by the Oregon Quarter Horse Association – the State of Oregon affiliate of the American Quarter Horse Association. The OQHA Board of Directors is reviewing the year-end award requirements to ensure that our membership is able to qualify for year-end awards. The verbiage of the requirements is under review to ensure that it allows for qualification. Award qualification for circuit awards at the Oregon Summer Classic shall remain as is from years prior. The QHEAC Summer Show is a pre-show and not included in award qualification for circuit awards.

The 2019 Arizona Sun Circuit Quarter Horse Show is scheduled for March 2-10 at WestWorld in Scottsdale, Arizona, and there are plenty of fun events planned, in addition to a full line up of AQHA and NSBA classes. There will be $10,000 added and great prizes in the Farnam Golden Cowboy Competition. 

For the first time in APHA history, candidates from Australia and New Caledonia made APHA’s roster of international judges, paving the way for more APHA-approved events in that region of the world.

Chad Evans of Parker, Colorado, came to the Florida Gold Coast Quarter Horse Circuit as a child and never thought he would come back to win a championship. He took the Green Horse high-point award with Ruth Marie Rowe’s Florida Georgia Line.
