CLARIFICATION- Horses From Certain Counties Banned From Attending QH Congress Due to Viral Disease

In an effort to protect horses and other livestock in Ohio, the Ohio Department of Agriculture (ODA) is not allowing the import of horses from counties within states with confirmed and suspected cases of Vesicular Stomatitis (VSV). This restriction includes the All American Quarter Horse Congress, which is scheduled to begin in Columbus on October 1.

Second Pleasure Versatility Challenge to Take Place at 2019 AQHA World Show

The second annual Pleasure Versatility Challenge, brought to you by Terry Bradshaw Quarter Horses, is scheduled to take place at the 2019 AQHA World Show on November 16th at approximately 6 pm. Like last year, the event will be open to 3-year-olds that will be shown in a Versatility pattern, to count 40%; Western Pleasure, to count 40%; and Conformation class, to count 20%.

“With the help of our sponsors, we gave away $20,000 in cash and prizes, top 10 awards, High Point youth awards, and had an exhibitor raffle on each futurity night. We also hosted an Exhibitor Party each night of the futurity, which was sponsored by stallion owners. This really got people out to watch, support, and learn about the Color World Series.”

APHF Presents 41 Academic Youth Scholarships

The recipients of these scholarships are the young horsemen and -women of APHA who work hard in the horse show arena and in the classroom. From different universities and colleges around the country, the recipients are awarded $1,000 scholarships for their educational pursuits. The scholarship funds for these students are donated to the foundation program by APHA members in honor of loved ones or by regional Paint Horse clubs/zones.

Jim Bound Breaks Record For Most Select World Titles

Jim Bound knew this Adequan® Select World Championship Show could be one for the books. Just two gold trophies short of tying the record for exhibitor with the most Select world championships, Jim brought two horses to compete in four events. He is also only the second exhibitor in the history of the 17-year show to have won the all-around title three years in a row. So, he had his sights set on breaking a couple of records. His chances were good, but one never knows.

AQHA Select World Crowns All-Around Winners, Super-Select Winner

The 2019 Sundowner Trailers AQHA Select All-Around Amateur is Sharon Forbes-Hanks of Pilot Mound, Manitoba. Forbes-Hanks showed her American Quarter Horse Hot Lil Assets. The 2009 sorrel mare, by Protect Your Assets and out of Barbies Hot Rod, was bred by Cheryl Lang of Humboldt, Saskatchewan. Forbes-Hanks and Hot Lil Assets earned 50 points. They earned the reserve world championship in showmanship, placed third in horsemanship and hunt seat equitation, fourth in performance halter mares and ninth in western riding.
