Hunt will join AQHA President F.E. “Butch” Wise of El Reno, Oklahoma; First Vice President Norman Luba of Louisville, Kentucky, Second Vice President Dr. Scott Myers of Sharon Center, Ohio; and Executive Committee Member Kenneth Banks of Schulenburg, Texas.

We apologize for the delay in updating, but we have officially chosen to postpone our futurity classes due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We’ve chosen to do this for the safety of our exhibitors, participants, and spectators. To make up for this unfortunate circumstance, we’re holding our futurity classes during the 2020 Virginia National Stock Horse Show taking place June 4-7th at the Virginia Horse Center, Lexington VA.

APHA Executive Director Billy Smith has confirmed that, at the current time, not only are the APHA Youth World Show, Open and Amateur World Show, and Eastern and Western National Championship going ahead as scheduled, the association has made the decision to waive qualification for the Open and Amateur World Show for 2020.

“The Museum will be closed for visitors for the remainder of the month as we undergo an already planned exhibit transition and take advantage of this time to conduct a thorough cleaning and disinfecting of the building,” said Chief Foundation Officer Anna Morrison. “Our most important consideration is the health and well-being of our visitors, staff and the local community. Based on the recommendations of the Center for Disease Control Prevention (CDC), the Museum will not be holding large public events including bus tours, school field trips and special events for the next 45 days. Our staff has contacted the individuals hosting events at the Museum during this timeframe to reschedule their events.”

But, there are over 15 division one schools offering an equestrian team. Some schools that have teams include Auburn University, Baylor University, Georgia, Oklahoma State University, University of South Carolina, South Dakota State University, Southern Methodist University in Texas, and Texas A&M.

Equine Affaire- April 2-5 in Ohio is Cancelled

It is with great sadness and disappointment that we announce that Equine Affaire scheduled to take place April 2-5 at the Ohio Expo Center has been cancelled. This cancellation is based upon the evolving COVID-19 virus threat that is sweeping not only our state and nation, but also the globe. Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and the Ohio Department of Health have issued an executive order prohibiting mass gatherings and events from taking place within the State of Ohio until further notice as a precautionary measure against the spread of COVID-19.
