Modifications to AQHA Bylaws, as well as registration-related items, were reviewed by AQHA members and the AQHA Board of Directors at convention. Per the Association’s bylaws, the board of directors has the final authority when it comes to changes or additions to AQHA’s bylaws and rules of registration. The Association will publish more information at a later date regarding the rule changes recommended by these two committees and approved by the board of directors.
Continue reading …While the Exhibitor Sponsorship Program allows participants a choice of stalling location, they will still need to complete an online stall reservation form. Stall reservations will be paired with the level of sponsorship selected and on a first-come, first-paid basis to determine the order of priority stall placement. The sponsorship determines priority for placement in the exhibitor’s barn of choice, not the exact stall location.

Continue reading …In 2020, the Breeders’ Trust paid out more than $410,000 to participants, with a per-point value of $11.34. This increase came from a smaller number of points being paid out due to COVID-19 show cancellations. With increased shows in 2021, it is expected for the point value to decrease for the 2021 show year.
Continue reading …The class is open to all age of non-pro riders. The entry fee is $40 per horse, and there is no limit to the number of entries. During the class, all exhibitors will face the wall and aren’t allowed to watch other competitors compete their patterns. Each competitor will be allowed 60 seconds to look at the pattern. Then, each competitor must turn around and complete the pattern. Rail work will take place following the pattern work. Cash prizes include $250 for first place, $150 for second place, and $100 for third place.

Continue reading …Finally, the Executive Committee is implementing the 2021 Commission on AQHA Competitive Events. This will be an ambitious and comprehensive three-year plan to ensure the continuous improvement of AQHA’s competitive events. It is anticipated the results of this endeavor will take effect January 1, 2025. It will require the involvement of each AQHA Standing Committee that touches AQHA competitive events in any way. More information will be discussed with the various AQHA committees in the near future.
Continue reading …The four regional Paint Horse clubs that make up APHA’s “Zone 8” have collaborated to create an exciting new joint-event series called The Great 8 Midwest Connection. The circuit includes three, four-judge Paint-o-Rama horse shows, which will be jointly hosted by the regional shows. The circuit series builds on the success of events that were jointly hosted in 2019 and 2020 by participating Zone 8 regional paint clubs. Zone 8 regional paint horse clubs hosted the #1 (Fall Color Classic, Michigan Paint Horse Club) and #11 (Border Bash, Michigan/Ohio Paint Horse Clubs) horse shows for 2020.

Though AQHA operates primarily upon the decisions of its members through the board of directors, the five-person Executive Committee is responsible for implementing important decisions and governing AQHA between the annual meetings of the membership and the board. The Executive Committee convenes throughout the year to conduct and manage the business of AQHA.
