The American Paint Horse Association’s Ride America program recently announced its 2013 “Saddle Stars” for the association’s 14 worldwide zones. Riders from Idaho, California, South Dakota, Texas, Minnesota, Arkansas, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Florida, Canada, Ireland, and Australia honored.

The All American Quarter Horse Congress has added new eight classes for 2014. “The Congress strives to be responsive to trends in the industry. The Tri-Chairmen are excited to offer more classes for our exhibitors and to give more people an opportunity to show at the Congress,” said Executive Director, Dr. Scott Myers.

“Last December, we saw one of the deepest sets of 3-year-olds ever, so I know we can look forward to a great cutting in the city of Cowboys and Culture.”

“With popularity in these events growing in the stock horse world, offering classes such as ranch horse pleasure and expanding our offerings for working ranch horse and working cow horse exhibitors will allow us to reach a whole new group of Paint Horse enthusiasts currently competing with their Paints outside of association events,” Senior Director of Show & Contest Holly Slaughter said.

“Since Reining became an FEI discipline in 2002, we have worked closely with the NRHA and AQHA to grow the sport worldwide, and the expansion has been huge, with 115 Reining events last year compared to just five in 2002,” said Bettina de Rham, FEI Director Reining, Driving & Vaulting.

Countries select teams of four riders and an alternate to compete in the Youth World Games. Representatives from each team compete in horsemanship, hunt-seat equitation, showmanship and trail. Volunteer horses are drawn at random and riders have only 30-40 minutes to become acquainted with their mount before competing in their respective class.
