Megan Overberg and Maddie Anger Named SEC Equestrian Scholar-Athletes of the Year

After the match, Carolina senior Megan Overberg was honored as SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year along with Georgia’s Madison Anger. A native of Hillsboro, Ohio, Overberg has a 3.912 GPA as an exercise science major. She’s a former NCEA Scholar-Athlete and SEC Academic Honor Roll selection. A President’s List and Dean’s List member, Overberg plans to pursue a master’s degree in ophthalmology after graduating from Carolina.

BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. — Georgia equestrian became back-to-back Southeastern Conference Champions after defeating the Auburn Tigers, 12-7, Saturday afternoon at One Wood Farm. Senior Addy Cord (Equitation on the Flat), sophomore Ali Tritschler (Equitation Over Fences) and junior Graysen Stroud (Reining) earned All-Championship Team honors for their rides in the semifinal and final round of the championship this weekend.

National Horse Forum to Focus on Public Perception of the Industry, Emerging Technologies, and Preserving Our Youth

The Forum will kick off Tuesday with speaker Luis Benitez, Director of the Colorado Outdoor Recreation Industry Office, where he will give an overview of his roles and responsibilities, as well as explain how other states could adopt a similar model. Following Mr. Benitez will be a panel titled “Survey Says” and will examine various data trends within the equine industry over the past several years. The morning will also include a youth engagement panel, “Building the pipeline of future horse enthusiasts,” and will feature representatives from the PGA “First Tee” program and the Outdoor Industry Association’s “Outdoor Nation.”

Condolences Following Passing of Past APHA President, Colin Beals

Hooked on the breed after attending the 1967 APHA National Show, Colin Beals jumped headfirst into the world of Paints. He registered his first Paints with APHA soon thereafter, was elected as a national director in 1968 and served as president in 1973 and 1974. During his tenure as president, Colin spearheaded the concept of multi-judge APHA shows. The purchase of My Painted Robin put Colin and his Arizona ranch on the map. He bred nearly 275 Paints, including many national champions.
