Countdown to 2019 APHA Youth World Show

Last year, exhibitors at the Youth World Show won more than $250,000 in cash and prizes, including $130,000 in scholarships. Those prizes aren’t limited to the top two winners, either—scholarships are paid out through third place in all world championships, with select classes paying to more placings. Random-draw $150 scholarships further sweeten the pot … you never know if you’re going to win! If that’s not enough, a variety of prizes are awarded in each class, including beautiful Gist Silversmith’s trophy buckles, Cinch jackets and prizes from SmartPak, Schneiders, LubriSyn and more. It’s time to get awarded for all the practice and work that you put in with your Paint Horse!

NSBYA Spotlight on SOQHA Challenge Scholarship Program

In the last seven years, 64 scholarships have been awarded to the 14-18, 13 and under, level 1, and small fry High Point and Reserve winners. Starting in 2013, and changing in 2016, the amounts of the awards were increased and a second chance scholarship was added. Winners of the 14-18 and 13 and under now get $1,500, while the reserve gets $1,000. In the remaining divisions, the winner gets $1,000 and the reserve gets $500.

APHA’s Iconic Sculptures Gallop to Stockyards in Prep For APHA’s Headquarters Move

APHA’s international headquarters is tentatively set to move to its new location in October 2019. Stockyards Heritage Development, a joint venture of Majestic Realty Co. and Hickman Companies, has begun the first phase of its $200 million development. Phase One plans include 175,000 square feet of shops, food and beverage, and creative office space that creates a distinctive cultural landmark reflective of other cities, such as the San Antonio River Walk.
