Level 1 Classes Added to Respective 2020 AQHA World Shows

“AQHA received multiple requests from exhibitors to host the Nutrena Level 1 classes later in the year,” said Justin Billings, AQHA chief show officer. “After careful consideration and discussions with AQHA leadership and the host facilities, we are pleased to have the opportunity to add the Nutrena Level 1 classes to the respective AQHA world shows, which will be held pending local, state and government mandates due to the worldwide pandemic.”

APHA Board of Directors Passes 2020 Emergency Stimulus Plan

In response to the COVID-19 catastrophe and the corresponding economic recession with a projected 5–10 year recovery timeline, APHA’s Board of Directors took swift action in April 2020 to pass a stimulus package of APHA rule modifications, which were designed to help the Paint Horse community weather the storm for the long haul and preserve the health of the Paint breed.

The Western States Affiliates board has reaffirmed its commitment to both the EMO Western States Championship and The Celebration and plans to continue the event in 2021.”

Big News For TSQHA Shows- The 5 For 4 Option

As with the rest of the world, the COVID-19 situation is drastically affecting our lives and our desired horse showing. However, TSQHA has made some great changes (PENDING AQHA approval) to our roster of shows. The May 9-10 show with three judges is being cancelled. The May 29-31 show with five judges is still hopefully happening. Pending approval, the August and September shows will each have five judges and follow the show format of the Summer Celebration show tentatively being held the end of May.

Get the Lowdown on AQHA DNA Typing and Parentage Verification

A common question that we hear from AQHA members is, “What is the difference between DNA typing and parentage verification?” The truth is there isn’t much of a difference. A DNA test derives the genetic markers of an individual horse. Think of it like a fingerprint. Each horse has its own unique genetic marker. Parentage verification still obtains that genetic marker, but it also compares it to the sire and dam recorded for that horse. Basically, parentage verification makes sure the dam is the horse’s mother and the sire is the horse’s father.
