For the first time, the American Quarter Horse Foundation awarded an educational scholarship to an eligible AQHYA member competing at the 2020 Built Ford Tough AQHYA World Championship Show.

“On behalf of the the entire Board of Directors, we want to congratulate this year’s winners for their tireless efforts toward promoting the Appaloosa breed, as well as their regional clubs,” said ApHC President Ken Johnson. “Our Exemplary Club Awards are a recognition of the ‘best of the best’ when it comes to creating awareness about a wide range of activities such as showing, trail riding and charitable causes. We thank all of our clubs for their ongoing efforts.”

American Quarter Horse Youth Association members have the opportunity to participate in hands-on horse training as they complete a record book and submit assignments that will teach the fundamentals of horsemanship. Then they can showcase their learned skills and knowledge and earn scholarships and prizes through the AQHA Young Horse Development Program.

“Over the years, ARC has provided AQHA championship awards, custom buckles and many other keepsakes presented by AQHA,” said Craig Huffhines, AQHA executive vice president. “We are thankful to have had the opportunity to serve our membership through ARC, and greatly appreciate our customers, including AQHA affiliates and alliance partners, who purchased awards to present to their members. However, due to a variety of operational and financial reasons, the AQHA Executive Committee and AQHA leadership have made the difficult decision to close ARC for the betterment of AQHA.”

“We are excited to add working western rail as two exhibition classes to the 2020 AQHA World Show and sincerely appreciate Headley Quarter Horses for generously sponsoring the $25,000 (cash and prizes) added to the event,” said Justin Billings, AQHA chief show officer. “The open and amateur working western rail stakes will reward 3-year-old or older American Quarter Horses that display the natural carriage and positive attributes of a working western horse.”
