Oklahoma Governor Tries Out Course at AQHA VRH World Show

“It’s such an honor to host American Quarter Horse Association events in Oklahoma,” Gov. Stitt said. “We’re so proud of our agricultural history and our way of life in Oklahoma. Both of my grandparents were involved in agriculture: My dad’s dad was the head vet at the Oklahoma City Stockyards, my other granddad was a rodeo cowboy and also a dairy farmer, so I grew up with this lifestyle. It’s an honor that people from across the country come here to Oklahoma to show their horses and compete. We want to also welcome everyone in November to the Farnam AQHA World Show, too.”

Texas Stars Win 2021 AjPHA Youth Team Tournament

APHA hosted the annual horseIQ Youth Team Tournament this past Friday, June 25 during the 2021 APHA World Championship Show. The contest had eight teams competing in up to five performance classes (Showmanship, Equitation, Horsemanship, Ranch Riding and Walk-Trot Pleasure 5-10), Jeopardy and a Knowledge Relay.

Judy Zeitler’s first APHA World Championship Show is on fire—both literally and figuratively. After a hot start to their journey—her truck blew its transmission and caught fire on their way down to the show—Judy’s settled into a groove in Fort Worth, capturing a win in the 2021 Breeders’ Trust 3-year-old Maiden Hunter Under Saddle Stakes aboard All Im Gonna Do for owner Marchelle Everhart of Thomasville, North Carolina.

Two Sets of Best Friends Win APHA World Showmanship Titles

This is both Melody and Alyssa’s first time competing at the APHA World Show, and they admit that it’s a bit nerve-wracking, but today’s result couldn’t have been better. Alyssa’s main goal for this class was to remember her pattern. “I think my extended trot, walk, and 360 after the judge was really good,” she says. “Showmanship is my favorite class, because she’s really good at this class, and she’s a very good listener.”

12-year-old Anna lead 9-year-old “Zeke” to their third World Championship title of the horse show. Their other two came in Walk Trot Hunter Under Saddle and Equitation. They also won two Reserve titles at the Pinto World Show last week. “He’s been a really good boy at these shows. He listens well and is very calm.”
