Through help from the FEI Solidarity Fund, we are setting up a stable facility at Lviv with 40 boxes to house horses in transit as we begin to evacuate more from danger. We continue to work with a number of individuals on both side the border to establish stop over locations for horses. Some will remain in the west of Ukraine and some will move further west into neighboring counties. There is also a requirement to establish quarantine stations for horses to complete their health requirements prior to their onward journey.

USEF Establishes Ukraine Relief Fund to Support Horses and Equestrians

USEF President Tom O’Mara reinforced the importance of the Ukraine relief effort, stating, “The U.S. equestrian community always comes together to help fellow equestrians and horses in need. The acts of war in the Ukraine require all of us to join in supporting human and horse welfare in the areas impacted however we can.  We will work closely with FEI to ensure all funds contributed are distributed to those who need it most.”

Community Rallies Around IPHA Member Who Lost 12 Horses and Barn in Fire

We are saddened to relay the news that longtime IPHA member, Kristy Doyle, lost her barn and several horses in a tragic fire over the weekend. Kristy has confirmed that nine horses were lost in the fire and, while four were rescued, three of them had to be euthanized 12 hours later due to severe smoke inhalation. One surviving horse is doing well at the University of Illinois Large Animal Hospital.

FAQ’s About the New AQHA Performance Halter Rule For 2022

Beginning January 1, 2022, the current Performance Halter eligibility rules will apply (see SHW365.3) and/or horses that are competing in a performance class at the same show may also be shown in performance halter. Horses must be ridden or driven at that show. Walk/Trot classes and Showmanship don’t count as eligible performance classes. The exemption for horses that have earned a Racing Register Of Merit (ROM) still apply.
