Georgia equestrian Head Coach Meghan Boenig announces the signing of Taylor Carman to a National Letter of Intent to ride for the Bulldogs beginning in 2014-15. Carman is the daughter of Christopher and Laura Carman and has a brother, Hunter.
“We are counting on Taylor to make a huge contribution to our team both in the arena and in the classroom,” Assistant Coach Lisa Anderson said. “She brings a background of tremendous experience in the equitation, hunter and jumper rings.”
A native of Waxhaw, N.C., Carman comes to Georgia as an ASPCA Maclay Regionals and USEF Hunt Seat Medals qualifier. In 2012, she finished second in the SCHJA in 15-17 Equitation and third in the NCHJA 15-17 Equitation. She also earned a third-place finish in the NCE Finals. Carman is also a four-year USEF High School Equestrian Athlete.
Carman is also a member of the National Honor Society at Laurel Springs School.
Bailey Anderson has signed her National Letter of Intent to ride for the Georgia equestrian team beginning in 2014-15, Head Coach Meghan Boenig announced. She will ride as a member of the Horsemanship team. A native of Millsap, Texas, Anderson is the daughter of Tim and Tina Anderson and has one brother, Dylan.
“I am just so very excited, honored, and thrilled to have Bailey, the nation’s top horsemanship recruit, join our horsemanship team,” Associate Head Coach Mary Meneely said. “Bailey is a dedicated individual with a passion for winning at the highest levels. Her impressive riding resume is a mirror image of the fabulous young lady that she has become. Bailey has grown up in the horse industry, competing and holding the reins of multiple horses. Her show ring presence, coupled with her years of experience and high academics will serve her very well in her success here at Georgia! I could not be more excited to have Bailey joining us next fall!”
Anderson brings to Georgia an impressive resume, which includes three Congress Championships and a pair of top-ten finishes at the AQHYA World Show. She was also named the All-Around Youth Champion at the 2013 Reichert Celebration and earned AQHA Superior honors in both Horsemanship and Showmanship.
In addition to having a successful riding career, Anderson is the President of the Texas Quarter Horse Youth Association and the Youth National Snaffle Bit Association.
Head Coach Meghan Boenig has announced that Vanessa McCarthy has signed a National Letter of Intent to continue her riding career as a member of the Georgia equestrian team beginning in 2014-15. McCarthy is the daughter of Michael and Diane McCarthy. She has one brother, William, and one sister, Olivia who played Division I lacrosse at Bryant University in Rhode Island.
“Vanessa has an impressive record in the show ring due to her wonderful position and great instincts,” said Assistant Coach Lisa Anderson. “She has both the equitation and jumper miles that will serve her well on the variety of horses we see in competition. We are thrilled to have her!”
The Sea Girt, N.J., native brings with her a long list of accomplishments to Georgia. McCarthy was the winner of the 2012 Marshall and Sterling Junior Medal Final and rode to top 30 finishes in the 2012 and 2013 USET Talent Search East Finals. She placed fifth in the Flat Phase Capital Challenge Horse show and sixth at the 2013 HITS Equitation Championship.
McCarthy intends to major in Education at Georgia.
Georgia equestrian head coach Meghan Boenig announced that Addyson Cord of Loomis, Calif., has signed with the Georgia equestrian team. Cord will join the team for the 2014-15 season. Cord is the daughter of Robert and Erin Cord and has one brother, Broderick who currently plays volleyball for Nazareth College.
“Addyson is a versatile rider with a background in the equitation and jumper divisions on the west coast,” Assistant Coach Lisa Andersonsaid. “The great thing about Addy is her experience riding different types of horses, from green to equitation types to jumpers. She has such a broad spectrum of experience from years of riding.”
Cord brings with her nine years of riding experience to the Hunt Seat team along with many riding accomplishments. Cord was the SAHJA Medal Finals Champion, the Cloverleaf Medal Finals Champion and placed third at the Onondarka Medal Finals. She was also the Reserve Champion in year-end placings of NorCal Junior Equitation and PCHA Junior Equitation.
In addition to having an impressive riding career, Cord is involved in the California Scholarship Foundation and is a member of WAC, WINGS, and Reflection Club. She was named to the Del Oro Golden Honor Roll and was the senior class valedictorian at Del Oro High School.
