Brett Sanders and My Legs R Sensational Win AjPHA 14-18 Western Pleasure

Brett Sanders concluded her AjPHA Youth World Show career on a high note by winning a World Championship title in 14-18 Western Pleasure aboard her eight-year-old mare, My Legs R Sensational, aka “Megan.” Because Sanders is 19 years old, this performance marks her last time competing at a Youth World Show.

Sanders describes Megan as “spicy, perfect, and crazy” all wrapped up into one adorable Paint package. “I love her a whole bunch. She is perfect.”

This was the only class the pair showed in here at the horse show, and Sanders admits that it was tough waiting until the last day of the show to compete.

“It did get a little boring, but I’ve never really gotten to sit and watch and cheer on all my friends,” she says. “I love watching other people win just as much as I love to win.”

Before Sanders entered the pen this afternoon, she looked to trainer Jeffery Gibbs for some advice.

“He told me, ‘She is what she is. Ride her how you know how to ride her, and she will do what she needs to do. She knows her job.’ In the prelims, I was really nervous and she was a bit hyper, but the second she trotted down the center in the finals I knew she was ready. In the finals, she was perfect. She was so good. She listened to everything I said.”

Now that her youth career is coming to a close, Sanders looks forward to transferring to the University of North Texas to be closer to her horses and competing in the amateur ranks.

“I definitely want to show in the all-around,” she says. “I miss it.”

The Reserve World Champion in the class today was Georgia Vernal aboard Fascination Sensation. Third place was Marguerite Camp with Radicalized.

In the 13 and Under Western Pleasure, Camille Fogg repeated her World Championship run from the Novice Youth 13 and under with Zipped From The Heart. Coming in Reserve was Rebecca Figueroa with Talk About Lazy. Third place was Olivia Eagles with Chipped In Roses.
