The Breeders Halter Futurity Board of Directors is very excited to let everyone know new and exciting details for our September 2021 event. We will be in Des Moines, Iowa on September 14 – 18, 2021.
We are excited and proud to announce the following individuals have agreed to judge our event:
Amateur:
Our Mare Power classes, which were just introduced this year, were extremely popular. These classes are open to foals sired by any participating BHF Stallion. Mares must be enrolled and all the weanling foals out of those mares are eligible to participate. We are excited to announce that in 2021, we will split these classes into Jr. and Sr. Weanling Foals. Jr. Foal eligibility is based on an April 1st or later breeding date of the mare. The purse will be determined based on the percentage of Jr. and Sr. foals that are pre-entered in the class.
Linda Gordon has graciously donated $15,000 added money for these Mare Power Classes. Mare Power Enrollments are due by December 1, 2020 for a fee of $350 per mare. There is an absolute final Mare Power Enrollment date of December 31, 2020 for a fee of $700 per mare. There are no exceptions to these deadlines.
Our Yearling Longe Line Class was very well received this year. Kathy and Steve Headley have graciously agreed to sponsor this class again for 2021 and it will once again have a $25,000 purse.
MORE BIG NEWS:
We are adding a Riding and Performance Halter Class for those horses that are 2-5 years old. Horses will show at the walk, trot, and lope for both directions, stop and back, and then remove the saddle and show in Performance Halter.
In order to make this class inclusive, since it is a brand new class for the BHF, we are opening the class eligibility to all sires who have ever participated in the BHF Amateur and/or Open, or BHF Color Division Amateur and/or Open. The horse that is participating in the class must be nominated in 2021 and did not have to be nominated previously – but the sire must have participated.
This class will have a $30,000 purse, which has been generously sponsored by Kathy and Steve Headley, Billy and Suzonne Franks, and Penny and Jerry Robinson.
The BHF Board of Directors voted to change the Amateur Exhibitor rules for 2021. If a horse is eligible for more than one class and it shows with an Amateur Exhibitor, that same Amateur Exhibitor must show the horse during all remaining classes that they enter.
