Big Changes to ACAAP in 2020

Filed under: Club & Show News,Club and Show News |

ApHC News

You can now qualify for the 2021 World Show through participation in Appaloosa Competitive All-Breed Activities Program! Read below for more information!

Enrollment is $40 per horse for your first 5 categories of participation. If you plan to show in more than 5 categories there will be a $5 charge per category. The $5 charge is a one-time category fee and then you are set for your 2020 season!

One of the most exciting changes is that you are now able to qualify for open classes at the 2021 World Show in the following categories through participation in ACAAP!

  • Barrel Racing (for Camas Prairie Stump Race)
  • Cutting (for either Junior or Senior)
  • Driving (for Pleasure Driving)
  • English Pleasure (for Hunter Under Saddle)
  • Games (for Keyhole, Figure 8 Stake Race, Nez Perce Stake Race, Rope Race)
  • Halter (any age group of halter or hunter in hand)
  • Over Fence Classes (all over fence classes including hunter hack)
  • Ranch Classes (all Junior or Senior classes)
  • Reining (all Junior, Senior or snaffle bit classes)
  • Roping (all open Junior or Senior tie-down or team roping classes)
  • Trail (for either Junior or Senior)
  • Western Pleasure (for either Junior, Senior or Three-Year-Old snaffle bit classes)
  • Western Riding (for either Junior or Senior)
  • Working Cow Horse (for either Junior or Senior)

The 2020 year-end masters winners in these event categories that have earned 15 merits will now be able to qualify for 2021 World Show!

You can also automatically qualify your horse to the 2021 World Show by earning 25 merits in the following categories:

  • Working Cow Horse
  • Cutting
  • Roping
  • Over Fences

These categories were chosen by the ApHC because they are not regularly held at ApHC regional shows across the country due to lack of facilities and/or readily available equipment or cattle. All merits are earned by the horse, not the rider and therefore all World Show qualifications are for horses in open classes.

For more information on these rule change please see ACAAP rules contained in the 2020 Official Handbook of the ApHC.

If you have any questions regarding any of these changes or anything ACAAP related please email acaap@appaloosa.com or call (208) 882-5578 ext 264 to speak with Amber Alsterlund, ApHC ACAAP Coordinator.

Best of luck!
