From a hilarious Donkey Race and an adorable 19-entry Leadline class to big checks in NSBA added money Futurities and the inaugural NCEA/YEDA Jr. Medal Horsemanship class, the 2018 Little Buckeye and Buckeye Classic was definitely the #BestBuckeyeYet!
During the second annual Buckeye Classic Donkey Race, 30 riders participated in a five-heat competition that helped to raise $8,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and provided quite a few laughs! Click here to read more.
32 riders participated in the inaugural NCEA/YEDA Jr. Medal Horsemanship class, where the top eight riders competed in head-to-head elimination brackets. The Open Division Champion was Brianna Merklin winning a $800 scholarship. Reserve was Cora Wyers winning $300. In the Rookie Division, Abby Wirick won $800 and Matthew Siefker was Reserve winning $300. Click here to read more.
With FREE AQHA youth entries during The Little Buckeye, it was no surprise that class sizes were huge: L1 Youth Horsemanship- 30, 14-18 Equitation- 31, L1 Youth Showmanship- 33, 14-18 Horsemanship- 40, just to name a few. The Buckeye Classic continued the trend over the weekend with equally impressive stats, and FREE amateur entries:
Throughout the show, The Equine Chronicle Hospitality tent and Chronicle Cart delivered ice, cold water, chocolatey Buckeye treats, and the latest edition of the magazine.
