In the midst of the epic snowstorm that hit the northeastern U.S. over the weekend, there was a frightening barn collapse and horse rescue that took place Saturday afternoon.
According to NBC News, the blizzard that has been dubbed “Winter Storm Jonas” is responsible for at least 37 deaths and at least 1,500 cancelled flights. The hardest hit areas include West Virginia, Baltimore, and Washington D.C.
On Saturday afternoon, in Poolesville, Maryland, 35 horses were displaced, 12 were extracted, and several were in need of medical attention following a barn collapse due to the record snowfall.
