Photos and Results From PQHA Midsummer Madness

There were many special events during the show, like the Emily Barnes Memorial Non Pro Western Pleasure that helped to raise funds for St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Emily was a part of the PQHA family and she lost her battle with cancer in December of 2020. There was a Non Pro Western Pleasure class held in her honor with only a $20 entry fee and a purse of over $3,700.

The Celebration Continues Growth With a Winning Hand in Vegas

Las Vegas set records with sizzling heat, yet in the cool comfort of South Point Hotel and Equestrian Center, records of a different sort were being broken at The Celebration and EMO Western States Championship shows July 1-11. After having to cancel the event in 2020, exhibitors came roaring back and class entries saw their highest numbers to date. Personal goals were exceeded, cash was awarded and it was abundantly apparent that everyone was having a blast.

What is EEE, WEE and VEE?

EEE, WEE and VEE are caused by Alphaviruses. EEE is the most common of the three and is found widely in several regions of the United States (especially in areas of high mosquito populations). WEE occurs infrequently but circulates in wildlife. VEE is a Foreign Animal Disease and therefore reportable at both the Federal and State level. VEE occurs in cycles in Central and South America; there were incursions into the United States decades ago.
