Today’s EC Photo of the Day comes from the Michigan Paint Horse Club’s Fall Color Classic, courtesy of Chelsea Shepanski. This year’s costume class was run in a Calcutta style with the proceeds being donated to St. Jude’s in honor of a local APHA member who passed away. The total raised was $5,500. Congratulations to Chelsea on winning the class!

Continue reading …Abigail Brayman from Oklahoma State takes the October Equifit Equitation Over Fences Rider of the Month award. Brayman scored a career high 90 en route to MOP honors against No. 1 Auburn. The sophomore from Charlestown, Rhode Island has not lost a fences competition this season (3-0-1). Brayman has not scored below an 80 this season. The last time Brayman scored below an 80 in the event was last season in February. The rider scored two points (one in Fences, one in Flat) in OSU’s comeback upset win over No. 3 Baylor. Her fences point against Baylor started the meet and gave the Cowgirls an early 1-0 lead.

Three more Level 1 (horse) stakes classes, with added money, have been added to this year’s Lucas Oil World. In addition to the open Level 1 (horse) western pleasure, sponsored by Glover Galyean Partnership, and hunter under saddle, sponsored by Leslie Bacon and Running Stag Farm, exhibitors can now show eligible horses in open Level 1 (horse) ranch riding, sponsored by BMG Quarter Horses; trail, sponsored by Oak Springs Ranch; and western riding, sponsored by Masterson Farms. Exhibitors in the Level 1 stakes classes will be vying for top honors and $1,000 in added money in each class. Each class will be held in the Performance Arena, and awards will be presented through 10th place. The deadline to enter a stakes class is 5 p.m. the night before each class, and the cost to enter is $100 each, with 75 percent of the entry fees, plus added money, as payout. Entry forms are available in the Competitor Resources section of www.aqha.com/worldshow.
