Kayla Kohler of Osteen, Florida, trained the international contingent that participated in Trail, Western Pleasure, and Horsemanship. Two of the riders, Roei Katarivas and Ofir Bouni, previously competed in Florida. However, it was Tal Pridan and Noa Katarivas’ first experience at the horse show, as well as in America.

Continue reading …Today’s EC Photo of the Day comes from Lisa McGowan and features her father, Mike, with his American Quarter Horse, Genuine Blackburn. Mike doesn’t let the fact that he’s a paraplegic stop him from riding, loving, and caring for his three American Quarter Horses and one American Paint Horse. He rides and works with his horses every day. One of his favorite trips is to Wyoming in August to ride in the mountains where he also serves as a guide.
Continue reading …Pay attention during winter months to water tank heaters and heated buckets—they continue to generate heat even if there is no water present, which can cause the plastic to melt and a fire to ignite bedding and hay. If you are using electrical cords, make sure that they are professional grade, inspected often and are not overloaded. Keep lights caged and only use lights that are designed for barn use.

Continue reading …In the mid-1960s, the Brunners acquired J Bar Junior, a Paint stallion who went on to win a 1969 national championship at halter and earned his APHA Champion title in 1970; J Bar Junior became a noted APHA sire, as well. The Brunners were instrumental in developing the Wisconsin Paint Horse Club and supported the developing Paint Horse market throughout the Midwest for more than 50 years. Ralph and Barbara were inducted into the inaugural APHA Hall of Fame class in 2012.
