In the Open 2-Year-Old Western Pleasure, Shannon Curl-Holbin rode Southern Whispers, a 2017 mare by Its A Southern Thing and out of RL Whisper Sudden, to win the class and a $5,000 check. She also received a Super Sires trophy by Cowboy Bronze, Rowdy Silver Champion Buckle, Nutrena Feed Coupons, and Enviro Equine Goodies. Southern Whispers is owned by Gumz Farms, LLC.

Congratulations Team OHIO on Congress NYATT Win

Divided into two divisions, this year’s Congress tournament hosted 52 teams. The tournament allows a team to send two exhibitors in each of the offered classes: Showmanship, Hunter Under Saddle, Hunt Seat Equitation, Western Pleasure, Western Horsemanship, Reining, and Barrels. The Ohio Quarter Horse Association team placed very well, taking home 1st place in Division I!

$50,000+ Raised For Carney Performance Horses Following Devastating Fire; Auction Scheduled

On October 26th, a fire broke out at Carney Performance Horses in Rome, Georgia. Sadly, the fire spread so quickly that the entire barn, apartment, and all 19 horses inside perished within minutes. The only animals saved were a dog and miniature pony. Trainer, Blake Carney, and his partner lived in an apartment located above the barn, so their home and all belongings were lost as well.
