AQHA Region 6 exhibitors are preparing for the 2020 AQHA Region Six Championships, which begins August 25 at the Eastern States Exposition Center in Springfield, Massachusetts. The AQHA Regional Championships provide American Quarter Horse enthusiasts a chance to test their horse-showing skills. The pre-entry deadline was August 1, and entries for the AQHA Region Six Regional Championships will be accepted at the show.

Other repetitive overuse injuries in horses are known to be bilateral in nature, meaning that they are similar on both sides of the horse, with the more severely affected limb usually incurring the fracture. With this in mind, the study looked at both the fractured PSB and the intact PSB from the opposing limb of the same horse for all of the cases. The researchers hypothesized that horses with PSB fractures would also show evidence of stress in the PSB of the opposite limb and that the bone that sustained the break would show more severe changes than the intact bone.

A savvy horseman, Gregg saw the potential of the Paint Horse breed from the beginning. Though he registered his first Paints with the American Paint Stock Horse Association in 1965, he began buying and selling horses much earlier as a teenager at his father’s sale barn. After accumulating a herd of exemplary broodmares, he purchased his first Paint stallion, Apache Norfleet, in 1967.

Show management had already expanded the Fall Championship to include a second circuit in response to the pent-up demand of exhibitors who sat home for months in COVID lockdowns. Once the Congress and its coveted futurities were cancelled, AzQHA CEO Doug Huls worked creatively to adjust the schedule to add a full slate of NSBA Futurities with generous added money. Sponsors enthusiastically jumped in, ensuring the shows will be a highlight of the year.

The Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA) announced the elected members of the 2020-2021 IEA Youth Board. The Youth Board was created by the IEA’s Education Committee in 2016 and is governed by Adult Advisors, Shara Prieskorn (IEA Membership Office Coordinator), Simon Towns (Zone Captain), and Sue Wentzel (IEA National Steward), as well as IEA Alumni Advisors, Hannah Bentz and Aubrey Braham.
