Two Couples Slated to Join APHA Hall of Fame in 2022

Pauli and Kenny Crull of Monticello, Indiana, along with Cliff and Martha Johnson of Kansas City, Missouri, will join the APHA Hall of Fame in recognition of their lasting dedication to APHA and the Paint Horse breed. The couples will be inducted at the 2022 APHA Hall of Fame & Awards Ceremony, taking place July 1 at Whiskey Ranch in Fort Worth, Texas. Top IEA Youth Equestrians Head to Pennsylvania For 20th Anniversary of National Finals

Nearly 800 of the nation’s leading middle school and high school equestrian athletes will travel from across the United States and converge in Harrisburg to compete for top honors in Hunt Seat, Western and Dressage classes, championship titles and collegiate scholarships. Of the 1,458 IEA high school and middle school teams from eleven zones across the country, over 600 teams will be represented at this year’s celebratory event.

Following in the theme of celebrating youth exhibitors, there were plenty of fun events on the schedule, like the Youth Boot Race on Friday, Youth Ride A Buck on Saturday, and Youth Sack Race on Sunday. The highlight of the show was the Youth Scholarship Challenge, which was open to all youth exhibitors for no cost. The format allowed for one horse and one rider combination to declare three performance classes and one halter class to count for points.

“We have to simplify our rules; we have to be relevant and simple and very user friendly,” Billy said. “The competition is much broader than a single organization. When we pass rules that we think are going to force someone to do something, it often backfires and sends them somewhere else. We have to look at the future in a way we’ve never looked at it before, or else we’ll be victimized by what others might do.”
