The stallion by CF Wicked Willie and out of Forced to Be Fancy–with his beautiful long trot and the personality of a puppy–earned his heavenly wings on October 19, 2022, leaving behind a legacy as handsome as he was; he changed the APHA industry, the expectation of how Hunter Under Saddle stock horses could move, and the lives of many who have been blessed to know him and his offspring, especially the lives of the Knaus family.

Though her mom, Stephanie Mohindra, had shown horses in the past, the family lived in the city of Peoria, Arizona, and Peytyn had no exposure to–nor interest in–horses. That all changed when her younger brother, Kiptin, began taking riding lessons with Robert Smith. Still dressed in her gym clothes from cheer practice, Peytyn would look on, absorbing it all. Soon, she began to envision herself in the saddle. Her first lesson was at age 11 and now, three short years later, she’s already attained the title of APHA’s 2022 #1 Youth 13 & Under.

Kenny Lakins’ dad was raised on Tennessee Walking Horses. “Dad always said that when he got old enough, he would buy a Quarter Horse,” Kenny says. “I rode a bit of those Walking Horses growing up, too. It didn’t really matter what kind of horse I rode, as long as I could ride.”
