Artifacts and Photos on Display at “Breeding a Legacy: 75 Years of American Quarter Horses” Exhibit

The American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame & Museum in Amarillo debuted its newest exhibit, “Breeding a Legacy: 75 Years of American Quarter Horses,” on January 20.
This year marks the American Quarter Horse Association’s 75th anniversary. In honor of the anniversary, the Hall of Fame & Museum will showcase the history and accomplishments of the 16 American Quarter Horse breeders who have registered a foal every year for 75 years. The exhibit features photos, biographical information, artifacts and saddles from the 16 breeders.
The breeders include:
- Mary and Alice Moore of Raton, New Mexico
- R.A. Brown Ranch of Throckmorton, Texas
- Burnett Ranches of Fort Worth, Texas
- Haythorn Land & Cattle Co. of Arthur, Nebraska
- JA Cattle Co. of Amarillo
- King Ranch of Kingsville, Texas
- Pete Reynolds Estate of Forkland, Alabama
- W.T. Waggoner Estate of Vernon, Texas
- Bonham Ranch of Cheyenne, Wyoming
- Pitchfork Land & Cattle of Guthrie, Texas
- Leroy Spires Jr. Estate of Snyder, Texas
- Tequesquite Ranch of Albert, New Mexico
- Benny Binion of Amarillo
- Norrell Family of Grand Junction, Colorado
- Shoemaker & Eddleman of De Leon, Texas
- Scharbauer Cattle Co. of Amarillo
The exhibit will run from January 20 to July 25 of this year at the Hall of Fame & Museum in Amarillo.
A traveling exhibit will also be showcased throughout the year at AQHA shows and events. This exhibit will feature biographical panels and photographs of each of the ranches.
This exhibit is funded in part by Dr. Kent Roberts and Ilene Roberts Balliett Foundation. Additional funding is from Haythorn Land & Cattle Co., Waggoner Ranch and the E. Paul and Helen Buck Waggoner Foundation.
