Around the Rings – The 2023 Texas Classic
The Texas Classic at Will Rogers Memorial Center just wrapped up, running from August 31 – September 4, 2023.
The 6-AQHA, 2-NSBA, AQHA, NSBA and TQHA approved show hosts judges Liz Baker, Jessica Gilliam, Kristy Starnes, Brent Maxwell, Brent Tincher, and Chris Jones.
From The Classic:
We wanted to honor a true Icon to our industry that we lost in May. Bruce Walquist was always smiling, and we all know he loved the youth kids, so we had a Bruce Walquist Memorial Youth Sportsmanship Award as a way to honor the presence that Bruce made on the industry. This years winner is Ellie Mortenson! Congratulations Ellie we always love seeing your smiling face and we know how special this is to you. Thank you to Whitney Vicars for presenting and the Cindy and Craig for being present as well.

The TQHA The Classic has returned to Historic Ft Worth and we are having the Best Time Ever with all of the new faces & horses in attendance. DreamsR Made Of This when winning one of the coveted Carol Rose-signed trophies. Day 1 of the show finished early and many headed down to the Stock Yards. The newbies were told to Best Cowboy Up if they wanted to party Al Night Long. Several were Dressed To Kruz in their best Couture Down South and there might have been a Little Gray Goose consumed. Some brought their own Whiskey Glassez but one cowboy said Only Martinis For Me.
In the trail arena, Curtis requested to have some loud Lincoln Park playing over the speakers. While Becky was the Queen Of Suggestions when it came to music choices. She said Gimme Ur Best Stuff for smooth rides over the trail poles. It will be a Sign of the Times when some Metallica is played. Of course, The After Pardy in the stalling area might play other choices. Rumors Haz It that The Tom Brady might make an appearance because Chics Want (His) My Number of course. He is Not A Average Joe on the football field, but in the trail pen ThatGirlisAcowboy.
Mike brought his Attache case yesterday and took home several halter wins. The halter exhibitors are Always Decked Out and one Man Of My Dreamz might have been Freakishly Hot. He was Pretty Dang Good hollering Babby Got Batt. YouMadeTheBestCall when you chose to show with The Classic. The show will give away $50,000 in Classic Cash just for being a member of TQHA. That should Leave U With A Smyle. Dun Got Easy Money to show here. You can Say It Now that you should have attended.
Mother Nature provided a little bit of relief from the super high triple-digit temperatures. Tellme Somethin Hot as the opposite of I Cant Feel My Face when it snows will leave everyone thinking I should be Sleepin I Will Be.
