Tuesday at Silver Dollar Circuit in the L1 Amateur Select Western Riding, Linda Layon-Watson and This Is Why Im Here won their class with a score of 222.00, and it turns out this is their first show together! “This is my first show with him, and he’s very easy,” says Linda. “I’m pretty green at the Western Riding and he knows way more than I do, so he’s teaching me. I’ve been doing Western Riding with my other horse, but this is the first time I’ve done it with him.”
In fact, this is the fourth day Linda has shown “Jack,” and earlier in the show, they won the circuit in the L2 Showmanship as well. Linda has been showing for 42 years, she explains, and their plan is to continue on to Sun Circuit. “Jack was a good boy in the L1 Western Riding, so I’m hopeful we can go in the Select and do well or better,” Linda says.
They did, because they went right back in the next class for the L3 Select Western Riding and took first place with an even higher score: 229.50!
