Arkansas Quarter Horse Association
The Arkansas Quarter Horse Association is excited to present the annual Memorial Day/Equine Omega Stanford Happening that will take place May 27-30 in Tunica, Mississippi. Show one horse to four judges for only $250, stall included. Stanford prizes include 16 buckles, $1,000 added money, and a saddle.
Once again, the coveted Stanford buckles will be offered in select classes. On Saturday, champions and reserve champions in Youth, Amateur, and Select Amateur Western Pleasure will receive buckles. The winner of the Stanford 11 and Over Walk-Trot will be awarded a saddle and reserve will receive a buckle. 11 and Over Walk-Trot exhibitors must be level 1 eligible in Western Pleasure.
On Sunday, Level 1 Youth and Level 1 Amateur Ranch Riding champions and reserve champions will receive Stanford buckles. The $500 added Stanford Ranch Riding will run concurrently with the Open Ranch Riding. Champion, reserve champion, and highest placing Non-Pro in the Stanford class will receive buckles.
New this year will be the Stanford Level 1 Non-Pro Western Pleasure. To be eligible, the horse must have less than 25 Western Pleasure points and/or the rider must have less than 32 Amateur Western Pleasure points or less than 25 Youth Western Pleasure points. In other words, a novice rider can show any horse OR any non-pro rider can show a Level 1 (green) horse. This class will have $500 added and champion and reserve champion buckles.
Special Event: Blind Horsemanship Challenge
To be held on Saturday following Amateur Horsemanship. Participants won’t see the pattern until they are in the arena. Competitors will face the out gate, so they won’t see other competitors work their pattern.
Open to all Non-Pros. Entry Fee: $20
We will be awarding money and prizes for several placings. We will also have a pair of Justin boots for one lucky winner. We will be holding an auction and a Calcutta. All money raised will go into the pot to be given to the winners and bidders.
