It’s that time of year again to start making preparations for the 2015 show season, and we have some very exciting news to share regarding an upcoming event. Judges have been announced for the 2015 Buckeye Classic and are as follows: Scott Neuman, Rhonda Replogle, Robin Frid, Brett Clark, Tom Robertson, Sissy Anderson, Larry Hansch, and Nancy Sue Ryan. Judges for the 2015 Little Buckeye will be Charlie Cole, Kelly McDowall, Cindy Hale, Darren Wright, Kelly Chapman, and Andrea Simons.

This event recorded a whopping 11,000 entries last year; its popularity due in part to the free AQHA youth entry policy instituted during The Little Buckeye and free AQHA amateur entries during The Buckeye Classic. Once again, all youth and novice youth AQHA entries will be free during The Little Buckeye, July 17-19, and all amateur, select, and novice amateur AQHA entries will be free during The Buckeye Classic, July 22-26!

For the second year in a row, HorseShowNerd.com will be your one-stop-shop for making all the necessary stall and RV reservations for the event. Reservations open February 7th, so don’t delay! Buckeye Show Committee representative Kristin Martin remembers how quickly spots filled up last year.

“Last year, we sold out camping in two weeks and stalls in less than a month,” she says. “With cancellations, we were able to accommodate most of the people on the waiting list. Once we sell all available stalls/camping, we go to a first come-first serve waiting list.”

Last year, exhibitors traveled to Ohio from 25 states and Ontario, New Brunswick and Australia. Classes were so large that several competitors left the show having accumulated over 100 AQHA points. A whopping $100,000 was awarded in free entries and prizes.

Plenty of new things are on the schedule for the 2015 Buckeye Classic and will be announced over the coming weeks, right here on EquineChronicle.com. Here’s a sneak peek…

In 2015, The Buckeye Classic will be the first show in Ohio to offer AQHA leveled classes. Also, there are new special events planned like The Buckeye Open, a golf outing benefiting the Ohio Quarter Horse Association Scholarship Fund, on July 20th. Also, the first annual Buckeye Blitz Dine and Dash 5K Walk/Run will take place July 21st.

Show Highlights:

  • Ten $1,000 added NSBA Futurity classes (all classes will run on Wednesday of The Buckeye Classic)
  • High Point All-Around saddles
  • Circuit awards in every class
  • New AQHA leveled classes and circuit awards
  • AQHA New Exhibitor drawings
  • Over $10,000 in random prizes
  • Random Acts of Kindness Giveaways
  • $4,500 Team Tournament Challenge

Stalls for the full 10-day run will cost $275 and include seven bags of shavings. Come Thursday 16th and stay until Monday 27th for no additional fees.
