The 2017 Indy Circuit Horse Show concluded on a high note yesterday evening when AQHA trainers and exhibitors took over the Hoosier Park Racetrack in New Castle, IN. for a very special event. Three AQHA horse trainers, John Boxell, Blake Britton, and Brice Howell, traded in their boots and spurs for helmets and carts to participate in the IQHA Night At The Races event.
Each trainer was paired up with a professional horse and driver team to ensure their safety. It was a close race, but, in the end, edging out the rest of the field by just a half a stride to cross the finish line first was a horse named Always The Sun, which was driven by Ricky Macomber JR with assistance from Blake Britton. Always The Sun is owned by Eleven Star Stable and was trained by Jamie Macomber.
While John, Blake, and Brice were getting an adrenaline rush out on the track, horse show exhibitors enjoyed appetizers and an open bar, while watching a full night of harness racing. Race programs, betting vouchers, and fun rides in the starting gate truck were also provided. A complimentary shuttle was arranged to take horse show goers from the grounds to the racetrack.
An estimated 350 people came to watch the IQHA Night At The Races, and some even made a bit of money by following Betting 101 Tips, courtesy of Mike Danis.
This special event wouldn’t have been possible without the help of Henry County Saddle Club, the Indiana Quarter Horse Association, and party sponsors. Scroll below to view more fun photos from the event, courtesy of Mark Harrell Horse Shows.
