The American Quarter Horse Association has selected executive search firm Witt/Kieffer to lead the search for the successor to AQHA Executive Vice President Don Treadway Jr., who this summer announced his intention to retire in 2015. The seven-member selection committee reviewed the credentials of several highly qualified recruiting organizations before selecting Witt/Kieffer.
AQHA’s executive vice president works with the AQHA Executive Committee, the AQHA Board of Directors, and AQHA Standing Committees to develop and implement the strategic goals and objectives of the Association and American Quarter Horse Foundation. Those goals include promoting and growing the membership and breed registry, preserving the welfare and history of the American Quarter Horse, practicing fiscal responsibility and working to ensure ongoing regulatory compliance. “Bringing Witt/Kieffer on board is the next step in the process to ensure AQHA continues to have the best leadership as we move forward,” said AQHA Past President and EVP Search Committee Chairman Steve Stevens of Houston. “Witt/Kieffer staff will be at AQHA throughout this process, including visiting with various members regarding the AQHA executive vice president position. The search for a new executive vice president is a top priority, and the search firm and search committee are committed to a thorough process to assist AQHA.”
No official timeline has been established for completing the search, though AQHA and Witt/Kieffer are already working aggressively to identify a talented and diverse pool of candidates for the position.
