After much discussion and considerable debate, the AQHA Select World Championship Show will finally be moving to a new location beginning in 2019. Since its inception in 2003, the Adequan Select World Show has been held at the TriState Fairgrounds in Amarillo, Texas. While show management is appreciative for the hospitality shown to competitors over the past 15 years, it’s clear, from exhibitor feedback and the association’s hopes for expansion, that the time for a change in location is now.
“AQHA is very grateful to the Tri-State Fairgrounds in Amarillo and the hospitality that has been shown to AQHA and AQHA members since the inception of the Adequan Select World in 2003,” says Pete Kyle, AQHA Chief Show Officer. “We’re looking forward to building a relationship with the Will Rogers Memorial Center to provide a more centrally located facility and potentially expanding the size of this event.”
The show won’t be moving far, just a few hours north to the Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth, Texas. At this time, AQHA and the Complex have agreed to a three-year contract that will cover the AQHA Select World Show in 2019, 2020, and 2021. The tentative dates for the 2019 Select World are August 21-31 with a qualifying period of June 1, 2018 to May 31, 2019.
