The American Quarter Horse Foundation, in conjunction with the American Quarter Horse Association, has been continuing to monitor developments in the coronavirus (COVID-19) situation and the potential impact on the Hall of Fame & Museum in Amarillo, Texas.

In light of the growing developments, the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame & Museum is closed to the public until April 1.

“The Museum will be closed for visitors for the remainder of the month as we undergo an already planned exhibit transition and take advantage of this time to conduct a thorough cleaning and disinfecting of the building,” said Chief Foundation Officer Anna Morrison. “Our most important consideration is the health and well-being of our visitors, staff and the local community. Based on the recommendations of the Center for Disease Control Prevention (CDC), the Museum will not be holding large public events including bus tours, school field trips and special events for the next 45 days. Our staff has contacted the individuals hosting events at the Museum during this timeframe to reschedule their events.”

The Museum plans to reopen to the public on April 1 and will conduct regular Museum hours of 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Central Tuesday through Saturday from that date forward.

“We appreciate your understanding and support of the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame & Museum,” said Morrison. “We also invite you to view our exhibit America’s Horse in Print: History of the American Quarter Horse Journal when the Museum reopens on April 1.”

Additional updates will be shared on AQHA.com and the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame & Museum Facebook page as information is available.
