The American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame & Museum announces its newest exhibit, Hard Work & Horse Power, which opens January 26. The exhibit explores how the horse has been used in American history. Visitors are able to view the exhibit at the Hall of Fame & Museum in Amarillo.

The timeline of the exhibit begins with early Spanish and Colonial life. The horse has been an important mode of transportation throughout history. From wagons to stagecoaches, horses were used to pull a variety of vehicles that transported both goods and people as settlers expanded westward and cities developed.

Uses for the American Quarter Horse changed through the years and the exhibit covers the importance of each era and how the horse shaped the times. Horses were needed for everyday work in large cities, on the ranch and for war-time efforts.

After exploring the different uses of the horse in history, Hard Work & Horse Power illustrates modern uses of the horse. Many different careers still utilize horses and the exhibit gives a good overview of their use in today’s society.

The exhibit will include artifacts and interactive pieces that bring the horse and the history to life.

The exhibit will be on display until July 28. Plan your visit to explore the history at www.aqha.com/museum.
