AQHA Gives Back to the Next Generation

Filed under: Club & Show News |

The American Quarter Horse Association recently awarded 10 $100 Visa gift cards and a grand-prize $1,000 Visa gift card to local graduating seniors.

Graduating seniors who received Visa gift cards were from the Texas towns of Amarillo, Canyon, Clarendon, Groom, Hedley and Stinnett.

Local seniors entered the drawing by using a free admissions pass to visit the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame & Museum given out by AQHA as a graduation present.

AQHA and the American Quarter Horse Foundation also awarded 133 students from across the country with a total of $277,000 in scholarships for the 2013-2014 academic year.

The Foundation selected recipients based on financial need, academic merit, equine involvement and civic activities. With an education, great mentoring and a love of the American Quarter Horse, these young adults will become the industry’s next generation of owners, breeders, trainers, journalists and veterinarians.

AQHA, the Foundation and its donors are honored to have created a legacy of support for its youth members. These scholarship recipients are individuals who carry with them a passion and dedication to the American Quarter Horse as they begin their careers. They are the faces of AQHA’s next generation.
