AQHA Director Emeritus L.B. “Bud” Cox Has Passed

AQHA Director Emeritus L.B. “Bud” Cox, 86, of Ozona, Texas, died on June 4.

Cox was an active member of AQHA. This interest led him into the breeding, training and showing of performance horses and the running of all types of horses. He spent many days and hours in Ruidoso and Santa Fe. Cox became an AQHA director in 1980, before elevating to director emeritus. He retired as an AQHA director when he became too ill to attend meetings.

Cox was proud of the part he played in the founding and organizing of the West Texas Quarter Horse Association. He also served on the AQHA Racing and Stud Book and Registration committees.

Cox is survived by his wife, Marilyn, and his sister, Ora Louise Cox Reynolds; three children, Lynn Cox Evans and husband Jay Evans, George Cox and wife Jackie Bob Riggs Cox, Lou Cox Chapman and husband Clay Chapman, grandchildren Jed and Jamie Evans, Jamie and Dennis Baldwin, Kelsey and Zach Dean, Leesa and Jerry Marshall, and Lynne and Barbra Haire, and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on June 6 at the Ozona United Methodist Church. The family requests memorials be made to the Ozona United Methodist Church at P.O. Box 983, Ozona, TX 76943. Condolences may be sent to Marilyn and family at P.O. Box 687, Ozona, TX 76943.
