The American Paint Horse Association’s Professional Horsemen Committee recently accepted and approved their first Australian Professional Horsewoman.
From Queensland, Australia, Leanne Bartlett of Bartlett Training Stables has 35 years of experience as a horse trainer, riding instructor and breeder. In 2018, she became one of the first Australian judges to earn her APHA judging card; she also holds judging credentials with AQHA, NRHA and FEI.
Leanne’s training program specializes in all-around events, reining and working ranch horse classes for Youth, Amateur and Open exhibitors from a beginning to advanced riding level.
“Our APHA/Markel Professional Horsemen are incredible grassroots ambassadors for our breed and association,” APHA/Markel Professional Horsemen Committee Chairwoman Lisa Ligon said. “As our international Paint Horse family grows, new owners can look to Professional Horsemen for advice, trusting that they’ll be treated with honesty and respect. Leanne is a great addition to the Professional Horsemen, and we look forward to supporting her and future Australian applicants as they grow the Paint Horse communities in their area.”
The APHA/Markel Professional Horsemen program was established in November 2009 and was designed to seek out honest, upstanding equine professionals who are members of the American Paint Horse Association. Selected members of the program pledge to encourage professionalism, integrity and fairness throughout the horse industry. They promote the breed and the association at local Paint Horse shows and other equine events.
