The American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame & Museum in Amarillo, Texas, is hosting its first American Quarter Horse Youth Arts & Humanities Virtual Field Trip and Contest. This two-part program is offered to any youth in elementary, middle and high school (third-12th grade levels) for free.
In the American Quarter Horse Youth Arts & Humanities Virtual Field Trip, students will have the opportunity to learn from renowned Western artists and professional writers and photographers whose work have been in publications such as The American Quarter Horse Journal and the Western Horseman. These professionals have been invited to help students prepare for the American Quarter Horse Youth Arts & Humanities Contest with various writing, art and photography techniques, plus obtain advice on pursuing a career in these fields. Students must register to receive access to the virtual field trip by November 8 at www.aqha.com/museumfieldtrips.
Once students have attended the American Quarter Horse Youth Arts & Humanities Virtual Field Trip, they will be able to apply their newfound knowledge to use in a fun and creative way by participating in the writing, art and photography portions of the contest. Their writing must be based on the information they learned during the virtual field trip using one of the three different topics provided by the Museum or create an artistic piece and/or photo capturing the spirit of the American Quarter Horse.
Each division (elementary, middle and high school) could win in each category (writing, art and photography). The top three best entries from each category of each division will be selected to win $200 for first place, $125 for second place and $75 for third place (U.S. dollars) and have their entry posted on the Museum’s website.

About the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame
The American Quarter Horse Foundation connects people and horses through charitable giving to develop and support programs or initiatives that preserve the American Quarter Horse’s legacy and further the overall well-being of the American Quarter Horse and the people who comprise the Quarter Horse family.
The American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame & Museum fulfills the Foundation’s mission by beautifully showcasing the hundreds of horses and people who have earned the distinction of becoming part of the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame. These inductees are chosen each year by a selection committee and inducted into the Hall of Fame at the annual AQHA convention. They are also honored each year at the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame Dedication, which is a special celebration where the newest class’s display cases, featuring artifacts and information about each Hall of Famer, are revealed.
