Chris

By: Brittany Bevis

Today’s Halter classes recognized the pure power and strength of some beautiful Quarter Horse stallions. First up, Christopher Perniciaro led Irrefutable to win Amateur Weanling Colts. The Reserve Champion was GiGi Davis with Trilogy. Third was Steven Phillips with My Bravado. Fourth was Sherri Baker with Tellm I’m Hot. Fifth was Donald Breeding with Legendary Kidd.

Chris and “Gordie” not only won the class, they also won the limited division and the Elite Halter Futurity. Just a few weeks ago, this team won a Reserve Championship at the Breeders Halter Futurity. Last week, trainer, Tom Robertson, led the colt to a Reserve Championship as well. He’s by Ecredible and out of a My Intention mare.

“He’s named Gordie for the greatest hockey player of all time, Gordie Howe,” Chris says. “We’re from Michigan, so hockey is big. The way we bought him is that Tom sent pictures to my phone, but I didn’t even see them. My wife looked at my phone and said, ‘Oh yes, we’re buying him.’ I came in from the barn, and we’d bought a horse!”

Coming up next, this pair will show at the AQHA World Show. After that, it seems Chris is content to wait and see what the future holds for Irrefutable as he grows up. “Oh yes, we’re definitely keeping this one for a long time. My wife doesn’t sell much. They all have a home for life.”

Scott

Winning Amateur Yearling Stallions was Scott Trahan with Evinceble. The Reserve Champion was Mariah Gibson with I Got Cool Luck. Third was Steven Phillips with My Secret Legacy. Fourth was Barry Byrd with The Image Consultant. Fifth was Shelly Hendryx with Quinclusion Midnight.

We chatted with Scott Trahan last week, when Tom Robertson led Evinceble to win Open Yearling Stallions. Click here to see what he had to say.

Dan

Dan Fox led Romeiro to win Amateur 2-Year-Old Stallions. The Reserve Champion was Tammi Smith with Whoisit. Third was Lynn Flowers with Escort. Fourth was Barry Byrd with Whiskey For My Mocca.

Dan and Romeiro won Amateur Yearling Stallions at the 2017 Quarter Horse Congress. Dan has owned the pretty colt by PF Premo since January of 2017. The horse is currently in training with Andy Staton.

“I’ve never had two champions at one Congress,” Dan says. “Earlier in the show, my daughter won in Ranch Riding with trainer, Steve Meadows. Man it can’t get any more fun than this!”

Dan recognizes that Romeiro looks a lot like his sire, but he’s most fond of the horse’s easygoing nature. “He’s really good-minded, calm, cool, and collected. There’s not a hole in him. He has a great croup, awesome neck, little head, and he’s really good-legged. His legs are always solid. Those four attributes are hard to get on one horse.”

Coming up in 2019, Dan hopes to begin breeding Romeiro. “I have some of my own mares that I will breed to him in February. They are My Intention mares crossed with I Gotta Cool Secret, so I think that will be a fabulous cross.”

Steve and Kelli Jensen

Steve Jensen led Ese A Looker to win Amateur 3-Year-Old Stallions. The Reserve Champion was Tammi Smith with Obviously Preplanned. Third was Angie Schmeck with True Blue Bayou.

The winner of Amateur Aged Stallions was Donald Breeding with I Gotta Cool Touch. The Reserve Champion was Holly Saigo with Epic. Third was Victoria Doyle with Advanced Conclusion.

Steve

The Amateur Performance Stallion winner was Ted Filandrianos with I Am The Party. The Reserve Champion was Alex Chavez with The Born Legacy. Third was Carrie Ann Berkenbosch with Plus One Mister.

Finally, Steve Jensen led Ese A Looker to be named the Amateur Grand Champion Stallion. The Reserve Grand Champion Stallion was Obviously Preplanned, led by Tammi Smith.
