All Around Results For 2013 AQHA Adequan Select World Show

During the last week, the Farnam Select All-Around Amateur contenders competed in a variety of events throughout the American Quarter Horse Association’s 2013 Adequan Select World Championship Show. This year, 61 contenders competed for the Farnam Select All-Around Amateur award.

The 2013 Farnam Select All-Around Amateur is Linda Coakley of Clearlake, Washington. Coakley showed Patsys Royal Secret, who is a 2000 brown gelding. Patsys Royal Secret, who is by Make My Grey and out of Patsys Chic, was bred by Patricia Sowell of Sacramento, California. Coakley and Patsys Royal Secret earned 48 points in four classes. The pair placed 13th in performance halter geldings, third in hunt seat equitation and won the reserve world championship titles in showmanship and horsemanship.

Coakley and Patsys Royal Secret received a prize package that included $10,000, plus $1,000 of Farnam products, an original Lisa Perry bronze, an embroidered WeatherBeeta horse blanket and a rose bouquet.

The 2013 Farnam Select Reserve All-Around Amateur is Lori Bucholz of Waterloo, Nebraska. Bucholz showed Larks Happy Days, who is a 2002 bay gelding. Larks Happy Days, who is by Rugged Lark and out of Emma Big Leaguer, was bred by Stephen Holloway of Lamar, Arkansas. Bucholz and Larks Happy Days earned 44 points in five classes. They were fifth in working hunter and hunter hack, third in equitation over fences and earned the reserve world championship title in pleasure driving and world championship title in hunt seat equitation.

Bucholz and Larks Happy Days received a prize package of $2,500, plus $500 in Farnam product and a silver bowl.

The third-place Farnam Select All-Around Amateur is Christine Hocutt-Senteney of Burbank, California, who showed Bellieve Hes Blazing. The 1998 brown gelding is by Blazing Hot and out of Bell Of The Barn. They earned a total of 42 points in three classes. The team earned fifth place in hunt seat equitation, fourth place in showmanship and the world championship title in horsemanship.

The fourth-place Farnam Select All-Around Amateur is Anne Wilson of Dallas, who showed Visible Investment, a 2000 bay gelding. Visible Investment, who is by Investment Asset and out Visibly Royal, was bred by Donald Moothart of Fairfield, Iowa. Wilson and Visible Investment earned 37 points in four classes. They placed seventh in performance halter geldings, fourth in horsemanship, tenth in hunt seat equitation and won the world championship title in showmanship.

The fifth-place Farnam Select All-Around Amateur is Annette Fowler of Azle, Texas, who showed Lets Get Started. The 2004 bay gelding, who is by Iron Enterprise and out of Dans Flying Saucer (TB), was bred by Rita Crundwell of South Beloit, Illinois. Fowler and Lets Get Started earned 37 points in three classes. They earned the world championship titles in hunter hack, working hunter and equitation over fences.

All-Around Amateur third through fifth place received a prize package that included $1,000, plus $250 in Farnam product.

The 2013 Gene Graves Super-Select Special Recognition Award was also presented at the 2013 Adequan Select World. The Gene Graves Super-Select Award is presented to the Super-Select exhibitor, age 70 and over, earning the greatest number of points in competition at this year’s show. This year, 73 exhibitors qualified to compete for the award.

The recipient of the Gene Graves Super-Select Award is Butch Morgan of Elbert, Colorado, who showed SF Check Me Out. The 1999 bay gelding, who is by Look Whos Larkin and out of Katie Chex, was bred by Steve Fleming of Comanche, Texas. Morgan and SF Check Me Out earned a total of 19 points in two classes, placing eighth in heading and third in heeling.

The Super-Select Award debuted in 2012. In 2013, the award was renamed in honor of the late AQHA Past President Gene Graves of Grand Island, Nebraska. Graves and his wife, Barbara, had attended the Adequan Select World since its inception in 2003.

The Adequan Select World is the world’s largest, single-breed championship horse show open exclusively to amateur exhibitors age 50 and over.
