Absorbine Partners With Charity to Help Working Equines Around the World

East Longmeadow, MA – Jan. 28, 2017 – When Absorbine® was founded in 1892, it was the welfare of working horses that inspired Mary Ida Young to formulate the original Absorbine® Veterinary Liniment as a humane method of treating lameness. 125 years later, the well-being of our equine partners is still at the forefront of all that Absorbine® does, and the company appreciates organizations that share the same values. Brooke is the world’s largest international equine welfare charity, working to improve the lives of over 1.8 million equines and the people who depend on them in impoverished countries around the world. In honor of their 125th year, Absorbine® is proud to be partnering with Brooke to support their work towards improvements in global equine welfare.

Throughout 2017, Absorbine® and Brooke will be collaborating to raise awareness about equine welfare around the world, and working to build support for essential projects. As part of their celebration of 125 years of caring for horses, Absorbine® will donate a portion of all 2017 Absorbine® Veterinary Liniment sales in the United States to Brooke USA. Funds raised through this initiative will go towards some of Brooke’s key efforts in 11 countries, which include ensuring access to food and clean water, constructing shade shelters, providing essential veterinary care, pursuing crucial research, and much more.
The congruencies between the efforts at Brooke and the values at Absorbine® are evident, and Absorbine® is thrilled to kick off a partnership that speaks to the very origins of their products 125 years ago. “When Absorbine® Veterinary Liniment was first formulated in 1892, the comfort and well-being of hard-working horses was the goal. We are proud to say that has remained true for all of our brands and innovations over the last 125 years,” says Chris Jacobi, President of Absorbine®. “The work Brooke does to further that interest in equine welfare across the globe, and make it a reality for horses, donkeys, and mules in desperate need is a mission very near to our hearts. We knew this was a perfect match, and are proud to support their efforts during our Anniversary year through sales of our flagship product.”
Brooke is equally pleased to be working with Absorbine®, and recognizes the potential the partnership has to help change lives. “We are honored that Brooke has been chosen as the official charity partner to celebrate the Absorbine®125th anniversary in 2017,” says David Jones, DVM; Chairman of Brooke USA.  “Absorbine® has been dedicated to improving the lives of horses for over a century, as Brooke has for more than 80 years. Through this partnership, Brooke will reach even more animals to provide practical, sustainable programs that will benefit working equines and the people who depend on them in some of the world’s poorest countries.”
