Our hearts are heavy as we extend our deepest condolences to Elite Show Horses on the loss of their client, John Nichols.

John had been making a big splash in the Novice Amateur division this year with Wise Men Talk, an APHA sorrel overo gelding by A Scenic Impulse and out of Dotevita (QH). Most of all, however, John was known in his barn and throughout the APHA industry for his outgoing and welcoming personality and for his irresistible sense of humor.

His sudden loss devastated his barn family, as well as his husband, Dennis.

“John Nichols was not just another client; he was everything we were needing in life! His infectious sense of humor and zest for life made every day with him a joy,” says Trainer James Saubolle.  “ We’ll forever cherish the memories of John.  His laughter and the memories he left behind will echo through our barn forever.  Ride on, John – you deserve ALL of the gold stars.  Dennis, you will forever have a family with Elite Show Horses!

Sean Smith, friend and barnmate, pays John this tribute, “Every time you were around was full of laughs and smiles. I remember sitting with you during the times you were considering coming to James… and I’m so happy you did! All the times we spent together were nothing but laughs and smiles! You just knew how to brighten up a room! Not a day will go by without you being present in our hearts!”

“John was not only the life of the party, but he also had a heart of gold and a smile that could light up any room,” explains John’s friend and fellow exhibitor, Stephanie Mohindra.  “He had a unique sense of humor that never failed to bring laughter to our lives, and his impeccable style was always on point, especially with his sparkle shoes! John’s love for horses was infectious. So many great moments, from bringing home buckles, gold stars and maybe sake in your eye! Those memories will forever be in my heart! Rest in peace, dear friend. Your spirit will continue to inspire us.”

John was honored in a Celebration of Life on Friday, September 29th, in Reno, Nevada.
