15Eleven year-old Blythe Goguen went to her first horse show when she was just three weeks old, and horses have played an important role in her life ever since. She has the unique experience of having one foot in two distinct but equally competitive horse worlds. She grew up in the ubercompetitive Hunter/Jumper world, but has recently found her passion in the Western disciplines with two exceptional horses, Smooth N Chocolatey and Good Time to Win. This Congress-bound youngster recently won numerous titles at the AQHA Level 1 East Championship Show: Champion Youth 13 & Under in Trail, Reserve Champion in Youth 13 & Under Horsemanship, and Top Five in Youth 13 & Under Western Riding with Smooth N Chocolatey. She also won at the AQHA Level 1 East Championship Show: Top Five in Youth 13 & Under Trail and Top Five in Youth 13 & Under Western Riding with Good Time To Win.

Blythe’s parents are Tim and Kelly Goguen, owners of Boggs Hill Farm. They have specialized in training, competition, and sales at the world-class level in Hunter/Jumper and Equitation since 1996. Their students have won everything from the USEF Medal Finals and ASPCA Maclay Finals in Equitation and Championships at the Devon Horse Show to the Pennsylvania National Horse Show and Washington International Horse Show and the National Horse Show in Hunters. Their riders have won individual Gold and Silver medals at the North American Junior Young Riders Championship. They have also won Team Gold, Silver, and Bronze and Individual Bronze at Prix de States in Jumpers.

The family spends the months of November through April at Belhaven Stables in the Grand Prix Village at Wellington, Florida and the rest of the year at their farm in Kentucky, three miles from the Kentucky Horse Park. Kelly says, “Tim’s won just about everything there is to win in the Hunters during the past twenty years, and he was very successful in Grand Prix jumpers as a young professional. Horses are our life. Blythe has lived the horse show life since she was born, which isn’t always as glamorous as it sounds, but we love it.”
