The Paint Horse Championship series is continuing to make its way across the country. The North Central Paint Horse Championships are set to run in conjunction with the Nebraska Paint Horse Club Changing Colors Horse Show in Lincoln, NE, September 5–6.

“We are excited about the championships because the extra awards and prestige are providing major incentives for people to come,” Colleen Dubsky, Nebraska Paint Horse Club Awards Committee Chair, said. “We have been advertising at our club shows with flyers. We think it will increase entries from all the out-of-state exhibitors and bring them to Nebraska.”

The North Central Paint Horse Championships are offering a total of 33 sponsored championship classes, including classes for Novice Amateur and Novice Youth categories. In order to compete, exhibitors must reside within Zone 3, which consists of Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming. Additionally, exhibitors must not have placed in the Top 5 in a halter class or Top 10 in a performance class at an APHA World Championship Show in the past three years. For full eligibility requirements, click here.

The goal of the Paint Horse Championship series is to celebrate the success of more individuals who may not have the opportunity to travel to the World Shows and to increase local show participation.

APHA provides the awards for up to 15 Paint Horse Championship classes, along with up to $3,500 for additional awards for Zone classes. Paint Horse Championship class winners receive a custom Gist Silversmiths belt buckle, and 2nd–10th place receive medallions.
