The young generation of up and coming horse trainers are proving they’re a force to be reckoned with here at the All American Quarter Horse Congress. Aaron Moses piloted Cool Lookin Machine to his first Congress Championship win for owner Jessica Parris and trainers Casey Willis and Blair Townsend. The pair received a check for $2,216.64 for their efforts.

Unfortunately, Parris was unable to attend the horse show today, due to a busy work schedule. However, she’s been informed her horse is a newly crowned Congress Champion, and she couldn’t be more thrilled. Parris will show “Ruby” in the amateur division later in the horse show.

“She’s at work, but she’s very excited, to say the least!” Blair Townsend says. “Casey has had this mare since she was a two-year-old coming three-year-old.”

“I was really proud of Aaron today. He did a really good job showing her. He didn’t fall off, so that’s always good!”

Moses has been riding Ruby, a six-year-old mare by A Good Machine and out of Cool Lookin Lady, for the past few days here at the Congress. Before that, he actually rode her when she was just starting out as a two-year-old Western Pleasure prospect. Although Moses is known to be a man of few words, we managed to coax a couple out of him…

“I think she was good, especially her second way,” Moses says. “I rode her a little bit when she was two, and then I sold her to the lady who owns her now. Casey has done a lot of work on her.”

Moses describes the mare as a good mover with a great topline, deep hock, and plenty of eye-appeal. However, when it comes to describing how he feels about winning his first Congress Championship title, Moses finds that a bit harder to put into words.

“It’s pretty cool… I don’t know what to say.”

Coming up later this week, Moses will show Ruby in the open division of the class, in addition to another Maturity horse and a few two-year-olds.
