“Girls On Fire!” Taking Top Four Spots in NW Emerald Masters Futurity

Thanks to a weekend of beautiful weather, intense competition, outstanding awards, and fabulous parties, the Northwest Emerald and Masters Futurity ended on a high note at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds in Monroe, Washington. A host of NSBA Futurities provided exhibitors with the opportunity to earn added money and those coveted NSBA bronze trophies.
Winning the All Breed Yearling Longe Line Futurity was Cindy McGraw with Seat Of The Soul for Riverside Ranch. The winner of the Open 3-Year-Old Western Pleasure Futurity was Kip Larson aboard The Daily Show for Amanda Jackson. Winning the 2-Year-Old Non Pro All Breed Western Pleasure Futurity was Dr. Candice Hall aboard Lemonmade. The winner of the All Breed 3 and 4-Year-Old Open Hunter Under Saddle was Deserie Armstrong with Al Ways Reaching for Cherrie Pavao.

The mane event took place Saturday evening with eight entries competing in the NW Emerald Masters 2-Year-Old Maiden Western Pleasure Futurity, which offered a total purse of $17,500. Judges Charlie Cole, Daren Wright, and Karen McCuistion determined the winner to be Kara Whitsell aboard Girl On Fire for Patty Baker. Whitsell and the Baker family were presented with a check for $6,000 for the win aboard the APHA mare by CR Good Machine and out of Sensational Lollipop. Whitsell was also the highest placing limited rider, so she received an additional check for $1,125.
The Reserve Champion in the open division was Kristy McCann aboard Mom Zens Her Best for Solomon Quarter Horses. Tying for third place was Carrie Humphrey with Lastpeaceofpotential for Shane Peace and Kerri De Kubber with Yea No Doubt for Emily Axelson. The Reserve Limited Champion was also Carrie Humphrey with Lastpeaceofpotential.
