Although Team Canada won back-to-back Youth World Games championships in 2004 and 2006, a win has eluded them since. With four riders, Canada has no alternate to fill in if needed, but they are counting on doing their best, having fun and making friends along the way.

Coached by Jodie Moore of Langley, British Columbia, Team Canada includes the following riders:

Emma-Lee Schellenberg

Emma-Lee has spent 10 of her 18 years riding and showing horses, and she says they’ve helped her develop a sense of dedication, perseverance and responsibility. The Langley, British Columbia, resident has earned 375.5 Youth and Novice Youth points to date aboard All Reddy Smoke N and Ima Special Delivery.

Taylor Gardner

Taylor, 18 years old from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, started competing Paints at age 9. At the 2013 AjPHA Youth World Championship Show, she collected a reserve world championship in Youth Pole Bending 14-18 with Mr Sylvester, as well as several Top 10 placings. After graduating high school this spring, Taylor will attend the Royal Canadian Mounted Police recruitment program.

Brooklyn Moch

Although Brooklyn has attended the Youth World Show once before, this is her first time representing Team Canada. The 14-year-old from Coalhurst, Alberta, has been riding and showing since she was 6, and she’s excited to represent her country in the Youth World Games.

Kirsten Chamberland

Kirsten, an 18-year-old from Langley, British Columbia, has been showing Paint Horses since she was 7 years old and has attended the Youth World Show multiple times with many Top 10 placings. A recent high school graduate, Kirsten plans to attend Kansas State University in the fall as a pre-veterinary major.

Good luck to everyone on Team Canada and all of our Youth World Games participants. Check back every day this week to meet the teams from around the world.
